How to Set up Your Better Story Marketing OS

Welcome to the Better Story Marketing OS!

No more stringing together a hodgepodge of tools that only sort of get the job done. Instead, it's time you experience marketing that runs the way it should without you having to babysit it.

Marketing automation is critical to delivering the right value at the right time to the right customer without driving you, the entrepreneur, crazy. 

But before we can dive into the fun of automating your marketing, you need to first set up the essentials in your Marketing OS. Here’s what we’re going to cover in this guide:

Adding your business info to the Marketing OS

To start using your Better Story Marketing OS, you’ll must enter your business profile information. The includes details like:

  • Logo
  • Friendly Business Name
  • Legal Business Name
  • Business Contact Information
  • Business Type, Industry and Registration Information

You can enter your business address to import many of these details or manually enter them. 

To update this information in the future, navigate to the settings menu (bottom left of the screen) and select Business Profile.

You will also want to update your profile and add team members.

Integrating your email

Email is central to running a successful business. You will integrate your email in two places.

  1. Email (2-way sync) within your profile
  2. Email Services

Email 2-way sync is set up for each user profile, allowing the Marketing OS to sync with your email. When set up, your communication with clients is logged, whether you are communicating within the OS or with your email client. Integrating your calendar

There are three options for connecting your calendar to the Better Story Marketing OS: Google, Outlook or iCloud. Once you have connected your preferred calendar, you can set multiple calendars in the system. For example, a personal calendar, one for booked appointments, or other services you provide. 

If you use multiple calendars or have multiple people on your team, you can set a primary calendar and then set the system to Check for Conflicts by choosing the appropriate calendars to compare via the setting in My Profile

Adding a phone number for automated SMS

Messaging is an effective way to communicate with customers, especially when you begin to automate your marketing process.

You will need to set up a new number to use for your business. 

In the fall of 2023, the A2P (application 2 person) 10 DLC (10-digit long code) standard was implemented in the United States. This standard is what United States telecom carriers have enacted to ensure that SMS traffic to US end-users through long-code phone numbers is verified and consensual. Your business must have an approved number to send text messages through the Better Story Marketing OS. 

If you do not already have an approved number, the steps below will enable you to purchase a local number for $1.15 or a toll-free number for $2.15 through LeadConnector, which is automatically connected to the OS. 

In the Settings Menu, select Phone Numbers and click Add Number in the top right of the page.

Select Add Phone Number and choose from the available numbers.

To purchase a local number, select Filter, enter the desired area code, and then, in the drop-down menu on the right, select First Part of Number to show numbers for the desired area code (picture below). 

Once you have purchased your number, it will automatically recommend you start the process of registering your new number for A2P 10DLC compliance. 

Setting up your payment method

To run an effective business, you need to make getting paid easy. You have four options for how you want to handle payment.

  1. Stripe
  2. PayPal
  3. Authorize.net
  4. NMI

Here are the steps to set up any of these payment methods.

  1. Click on Payments in the left menu
  2. Choose which payment method you use.
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions.

Setting up payment methods will allow you to quickly be paid via invoices and paid sessions.

Importing your contacts

Growing a robust list of contacts is essential to the success of your business. You can enter contacts one at a time or bulk import a preexisting list.
